AMMONIA: animation of ammonia molecule, NH3 molecule
AMMONIA: is a well known compound (familiar in dilute liquid form as a spray on glass cleaner). Ammonia is a colourless gas under normal conditions with a strong smell (e.g. in smelling salts). The animation above shows a central nitrogen atom (blue) bonded to three hydrogen atoms (green).
INDUSTRIAL USES OF AMMONIA: ammonia is major product of the chemical industry and has a wide variety of applications, especially in fertilisers. Other uses include explosives, pharmaceuticals, refrigeration and plastics.
