ADENOVIRUS: Adenoviruses (AdV) are large naked viruses with characteristic fibres (shown in red) projecting from each vertex of their icosahedral capsids. Genome is double-stranded DNA. Adenoviruses tend to cause respiratory disease. Adenoviruses are also used as vectors to introduce genetic material into cells. An adenovirus is used by the Oxford group's COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine.
