Plane waves reflecting from a surface. This could be light waves reflecting from a mirror or water waves from the side of a tank. The reflection is symmetrical about the reflecting surface: the angle of incidence is the same as the angle of reflection. Notice how the waves interfere where the beam crosses itself.
