RABIES VIRUS: ROTATING VIRION. Rabies is an extremely dangerous disease (also called hydrophobia), often transmitted by the bite of an infected animal such as a dog or a bat. Typical bullet-shaped virion covered by glycoprotein spikes (red). The spikes insert into the lipid membrane or viral envelope (greenish).
